AUTO DARKENING HELMETS

Auto darkening helmets now account for the majority of welding helmets now sold and use an auto darkening filter (ADF) to rapidly change from a light shade to a much darker shade suitable for welding. Additional features can include grind mode and shades 5-8 for gas welding and cutting but this is more exclusive to the higher cost helmets. The ADF can be solar powered from the arc or from a coin cell battery and it is common now to see both so they can have a solar panel and a replaceable internal battery.
